"Fragments untitled" is a serial of projects that will be dealing and researching the unforgettable of recent Serbian history.

In “Fragments untitled #0”, the first project of the serial, Doplgenger deconstructs popular representation of Gazimestan 1989, event which was presage of the collapse of Yugoslavia and the bloodshed of the Yugoslav Wars, in order to question the notions of history, memory and responsibility.

EVERYMAN`S DREAM deals with phenomenon of consumerist society and its implications. It represents super-modern allegory placed in the most globalized phenomena – non-place of shopping center. Video's structure derives from medieval morality plays of Everyman and is based upon motive of fictional dream vision which enables one to undertake the journey of seeing beyond...

Video explores procedures of (in)visibility upon which neoliberal ideology is based. Everyman's Dream is concerned with Deleuze's analysis of relation between desire and capitalist society in particular.

Medusa, one of the three sisters known as the Gorgons, was punished by given the destructive power to turn anyone who looked directly at her into stone.

Voices_Gazes_Traces as video installation is outcome of Doplgenger's research done through artist-in-residence programs in Austria and England during 2009. Voices_Gazes_Traces treats concept of writing within film medium. Artistic research was based around film theory, theory of literature and feminist art practices. Constituting itself around gaze and language project has taken starting point in Hélène Cixous essay "The Laugh of the Medusa" to introduce the concept of feminine ecriture. Feminist perspective on the representation of women on film and film structure based on the logic of the Oedipus complex and the male gaze have been in focus of questioning film language.

Formally intervening with found footage of commercials, this experimental video allows one to rethink image while creating narrative which discovers one of many skillfully covered senses of media images. As the title suggests this video performs Lacan's opinion that in contemporary capitalism 'surplus value' is no longer capitalized for later libidinal enjoyment - nowadays surplus value is re-invested in production process.

Mirage is interdisciplinary ongoing project dealing with themes of media manipulation, stereotypes, identity, communication. Research is developed through theoretical and practical phase while the work appropriates strategies of conceptual art, performance art and film. While phenomenon of media image performs and is being performed, it points to elements of its constitution – seduction of recipient and constructiveness of performing act/performer's identity.

Mirage_inter is continuation in artistic research of intercultural dialog in context of EU. Conceptual starting point was Pirandello's “Six Characters in Search of an Author”. Doplgenger chose 5 participants by an open call. Each participant has contributed to creation of project during two months of online theoretical preparation and communication. After two-week of practical work undertaken in Belgrade, this multimedia performance was presented to the public.

"Utopia is nowhere (outopia) and it is also somewhere good (eutopia). To live in the world that cannot be but where one fervently whishes to be: that is literal essence of utopia. To this extend utopia does share the quality of a dream."

Youtopia was created during artistic residency in England awarded and funded by Arts Council of England and BIAW. The title is a word play alluding to concerns of this project - Utopia and The Other. Artists used real situation of being in Milton Keynes, artificially built town with wish for better life to all, as a background in order to deal with identity theme. Yugoslavia as once constructed state appears as a counter in this journey. Introducing a motive of The Other, identity is artistically questioned in context of leaving and seeking for Utopian place.

Youtopia is part of interdisciplinary projects dealing with film as medium that is constituted in viewer's consciousness. Youtopia is five channel video installation which narrative is built by combination of documentary materials and played elements. The observer is put in engaged position and asked to create her/his own story by choosing images or sounds. Film illusion is being transmitted into performance.

Video art Code is homage to Alain Resnais' film Last Year in Marienbad. It questions relation between language and empty spaces. The place witnesses the identity and history but place is only a group of elements existing in certain order. Walkers transform place into space by their presence and movement. A word, like a place, is unidentifiable but in act of speech, surrounded by different elements, it becomes multiply term and language creates the meaning.

Mirage_intro is first Mirage issue that Doplgenger did with Serbian and French artists during 2006. Mirage _intro presents 2 pilot phases done with support of French group Autour de Peter. Work was based around themes of Serbian and French historical friendship and alliance, confrontation of similarities and differences in cultural heritage. Structure's frame was established around main motifs from traditional tales, Serbian “Zlatna Jabuka i devet paunica” and French “Les pommes d'or” through which artists wanted to question process of creating stereotypes.

Touching... is a video in which the experimental aesthetic form of split screen is used, and in which different archive materials are put in juxtaposition. Associatively crossed, these materials emphasize the ironic discourse of TV reality by transferring entire video in context of "fairy-tale for good night".

Maybe One Day is story about one, maybe last one, day in women's life in a way as it is often represented.

Maybe One Day is a film-essay which speaks about one WHO watches and one WHO creates a work of art. This short film is trying to deconstruct representation of woman at film, the one that has gained place of stereotype and a rule. The author points at the very structure of art work, and film as medium, quoting that reading is always beyond representation and includes net of different significances.

I'll be there is short fiction film about unusual investigation which tries to make a distance to materials of the past. Film presents memories as a transparent, accessible material written on VHS in order to point out personal experience. Since imitating work of unconsciousness, narrative events are not placed as linear and associations are enclosing the circles of experience that speaks for itself.

mirage as concept

Mirage is interdisciplinary ongoing project dealing with themes of media manipulation, stereotypes, identity, communication. Research is developed through theoretical and practical phase while the work appropriates strategies of conceptual art, performance art and film. While phenomenon of media image performs and is being performed, it points to elements of its constitution – seduction of recipient and constructiveness of performing act/performer's identity.

Mirage project is in tight connection with society and place of art’s engagement. Mirage's approach reflects and deconstructs questions of cultural, social, artistic identity in order to improve climate for different society and art practice. By constant interrupting symbolic order of artistic space, Mirage tries to point that privileged place of consuming is a place for manipulation.

Mirage takes particular context in building itself and this is the main reason of its realization in various environments. Prior each practical development of project, Doplgenger undertakes theoretical, cultural, social research and understandings of the context. Project wants to prove itself through work with different participant groups, dealing with various main themes and motifs, performing in different social environments, rising variety of contemporary social questions. Project focuses on finish product as well as working process which is documented.
